A Schuylkill County man is facing serious charges after an early morning shooting in Tremont Borough on Tuesday.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, troopers responded to a report of shots fired at approximately 12:30 a.m. on May 21st, 2025, at a residence located at 133 West Laurel Street.
Authorities say 28-year-old Derek Weaver allegedly fired a single round from a shotgun, striking a 30-year-old male victim and the victim’s vehicle. The victim, whose name has not been released, sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the incident.
Following an investigation, Weaver was taken into custody and charged with one count of Criminal Attempted Homicide, Aggravated Assault, and additional related offenses. He was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge James K. Reiley and committed to Schuylkill County Prison on $75,000 straight cash bail.
