Nancy J. Smink, 77 of Pottsville, died Thursday at home.

She was born February 10, 1948, in Pottsville, a daughter of the late Christian P. Sr., and Mildred L. Croll.

She was a 1966 graduate Pottsville Area High School. Nancy furthered her education at Albright College before earning her master's degree in library science from SUNY.

Prior to retiring she worked 40 years at the Pottsville Free Public Library, where she held the position of executive director for 36 of those years.

She was a member of the former First United Church of Christ in Pottsville and also participated in the former Pilot's Club,

Nancy had a passionate love for travel, particularly to Europe, and cherished experiences such as attending Broadway shows and visiting the theatre. She was an avid reader and had a deep affection for her pets.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Christian P. Smink, Jr.

She is survived by her cherished siblings: Judy Workman of Melbourne Beach, FL; Sue Bendle-Yannacone, Pottsville; Dr. Michael Smink, Pottsville; Jeffery Smink, Kure Beach, NC. nieces and nephews.

Service of Remembrance will be held 10:30AM, Saturday, May 24th at James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville, with Rev. Chris Rothharpt officiating. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 9:30AM until the time of services. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions in memory of Nancy be made to Pottsville Free Public Library, 217 W.
