Final Rite Aid in Schuylkill County Announced to Close

Rite Aid announced Thursday that it will close its Ashland location, adding yet another Schuylkill County store to the list of sites as the national pharmacy chain continues to restructure under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
The store, located at 129 East Centre Street in Ashland, is the sixth and last in the county slated to close since the company filed for bankruptcy in October 2023.

Previously, Rite Aid disclosed two rounds of closures that included five Schuylkill County locations:

• 15 West Centre Street, Mahanoy City
• 205 Center Street, Tamaqua
• 44 Kings Village, Minersville
• 452 South Lehigh Avenue, Frackville
• 15 South Main Street, Shenandoah

Rite Aid has not announced a specific closing date for the Ashland store. Liquidation sales are expected to begin in the coming weeks.
