Jean T. Becker
, 89, of Pine Grove, entered eternal life on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, in Stoneridge Poplar Run in Myerstown.

Born on October 15, 1935 in Minersville, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Jennie Gutswa McGann.

She was a graduate of Minersville High School.

Jean had been employed as a floor lady at a garment factory and then worked in the cafeteria for the Pine Grove Area School District.

She was a member of Most Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, Tremont and a member of the Women's Guild at the church. Jean was a woman of unwavering faith, a devout servant of God whose life was a living testament to grace, compassion, and love. She volunteered countless hours assisting with various church functions, cleaning the church, and offering communion to local nursing home residents. She deeply believed in the power of prayer and always leaned on her deep spiritual foundation.

Jean was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She dedicated her life to nurturing her family. Surviving are her beloved husband of 68 years, Robert I. Becker; four children, Richard and wife Cindy Becker of Strausstown, Cindy Bettinger, wife of the late Dan "Chico" Bettinger, Scott and wife Mechelle Becker, and Dawn and husband Steve Reiter, all of Pine Grove; 8 grandchildren, Ricky, Shannon, Matt, Megan, Melanie, Robbie, Luke and Hannah; 9 great grandchildren, Briar, Logan, Breyel, Taylor, Levi, Evelyn, Dylan, Emily and Paige.

Jean was a beacon of love, compassion, and kindness. Her unwavering empathy and deep concern for others touched countless lives – whether through a homemade meal, a listening ear, or simply a kind word at just the right moment. She had the ability to make others feel cared for and special.

She was always on the move, filling her life with so many activities that she deeply enjoyed: walking, exercising, shopping, reading, traveling, visiting family and friends, and cooking. She will forever be known as the “World’s Best Halupki Maker”. She also loved attending Pine Grove Area sporting events with her husband. Many will remember her for her love of music and dancing. Jean and Bob were a delight to watch on the dance floor together.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Noon at the Most Blessed Trinity Parish, 113 Cherry St., Tremont with Father George Kochuparambil officiating. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 from 10:30 A.M. until Noon at the church. Interment will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to the Most Blessed Trinity Parish Memorial Fund, 113 Cherry St., Tremont, PA 17981 in her memory.

The H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove, is in charge of arrangements.

Grace A. Otto, age 93, formerly of Valley View, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Heritage Mills Assisted Living Center, Tower City.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

Judith Ann Quinn
, 75, of Branch Twp., passed away Sunday afternoon at Seton Manor, Orwigsburg..

Born in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late John and Sophie Wolinsky Capik..

Judith was a 1967 graduate of Nativity BVM High School and a graduate of the Empire Beauty School, Pottsville. She was a hairdresser and owner of “Judy and Co. Salon”. She was a member of St. Matthew’s Church of Holy Family Parish, Minersville.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Thomas; 2 sons Thomas and Michael Quinn; 3 grandchildren, Connor and his wife Kristina, Katrina and Warren; 3 Great Grandchildren, Carter and Lincoln Quinn; a sister Arlene Dauchess and her husband Dr. Vincent; 2 brothers John Capik and his wife Gloria and Leonard Capik and his wife Jody; nieces and nephews.

Judy owned and operated her own Beauty Salon and loved nothing more than making people beautiful and happy. She loved to be outside on a sunny day doing yard work with her husband Tom and pulling weeds with a glass of wine in her hand.

A Funeral Service will be Tuesday at 10:30 AM from the Donald J. Butler Funeral Home, 328 Sunbury St. Minersville. Relatives and friends can call at the Funeral Home from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in St Stanislaus #2 Cemetery, Minersville.

Allen Wirtz, 58, of Mahanoy City, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, at Broad Mountain Health & Rehabilitation Center in Frackville, PA. Born on November 29, 1966, in Mahanoy City, PA, he was the son of William Wirtz and the late Margaret Ann (Woodall) Wirtz.

A religious service will be held at the Good American Fire Company #3 in Mahanoy City at 11 AM on Tuesday, July 8th. Friends and family are invited to call from 9 to 11 AM at the same location. Interment will follow at the German Protestant Cemetery Association in Mahanoy City, PA.
