State Police Seek Health Care Providers’ Help in Investigation of Fraudulent Nursing Practices

The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Bureau of Criminal Investigation is calling on health care agencies and providers across the state to review employment records as part of an ongoing investigation into fraudulent nursing practices allegedly carried out by Shannon Nicole Womack.
According to investigators, Womack is accused of posing as a licensed nurse using multiple aliases to obtain employment at nursing homes and rehabilitation facilities throughout Pennsylvania. Authorities say she used falsified documents and created a fraudulent LLC to secure temporary work through staffing agencies.

The PSP is collaborating with the Pennsylvania Department of Health, the Department of State, multiple district attorneys, and officials in other states to trace Womack’s employment history and uncover the full extent of her alleged actions.

Womack is charged with several crimes, including Corrupt Organizations, Endangering the Welfare of Care, Identity Theft, Unlawful Use of a Computer, Forgery, and Theft by Unlawful Taking.

Investigators say Womack worked for short periods under at least ten different names, including:
  • Shannon Nicole Parham
  • Shannon Nicole Abiola
  • Shannon Nicole Armstrong
  • Shannon Abiola-Parham
  • Shannon Nicole Grimes
  • Shannon Nicole Womack
  • Shannon Nicole Lawson
  • Shannon Nicole Lethco
  • Shannon Nicole Robinson
  • Shannon Lee Lawson
The PSP is urging all health care providers who may have employed someone under any of the listed names to contact the PSP Washington station at 724-223-5200.

Authorities hope that cooperation from the health care community will help identify potential risks to patients and further strengthen the case against Womack. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
