State Police Investigating Reported Rape in Barry Township

Barry Township – Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating a reported rape that occurred in Barry Township earlier this week.
According to troopers, on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at approximately 12:36 p.m., police were dispatched to a residence on Well Drive in Barry Township for a report of a sexual assault.

Investigators said a 32-year-old woman from Philadelphia reported that she had been held against her will and raped over the course of two days by a 54-year-old man, also from Philadelphia. The victim told police she was able to contact a family member, who then alerted authorities.

Prior to police arrival, the man allegedly fled the residence on foot after forcibly taking the victim’s cell phone.

Members of the PSP Schuylkill Haven Criminal Investigation Unit interviewed witnesses and obtained a search warrant for the residence, which was executed with assistance from the Forensic Services Unit.

Troopers later made contact with the suspect, who voluntarily came to the Schuylkill Haven barracks for an interview and cooperated with the investigation.

State Police say the case remains under active investigation, and no further details have been released at this time.
