Police Standoff in Pine Grove Ends with Felony Arrest

PINE GROVE – A man wanted on a felony warrant was taken into custody Sunday morning following a standoff that drew a heavy police presence in Pine Grove.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, the incident began around 8:15 a.m. on September 21, 2025, when troopers arrived at 108 North Tulpehocken Street to conduct a follow-up investigation into a recent case of criminal mischief.

When police arrived, they observed Michael Mabry, 54, quickly running into a detached garage on the property. Troopers recognized Mabry as the subject of an active felony warrant for aggravated assault stemming from a domestic incident.

Multiple attempts were made to order Mabry out of the structure, but he did not comply. State Police then requested the assistance of the PSP Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) to resolve the standoff.

After several hours on scene, Mabry attempted to flee from the shed into his residence. He was stopped and detained on the porch by members of PSP SERT. Mabry was transported by ambulance for treatment of injuries sustained during the arrest before being arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Reiley. He was remanded to Schuylkill County Prison on the aggravated assault warrant.

State Police say the charges against Mabry stem from an incident on September 13, 2024, when troopers were called to an assault. During that altercation, Mabry allegedly threw a female victim onto a couch and struck her multiple times, causing her to lose consciousness.

No additional injuries to officers or bystanders were reported during Sunday’s incident.
