Schuylkill County High School Football Power 5 - After Week 4

Schuylkill County High School Football Power 5 After Week 4

The 2025 Schuylkill County High School Football season has reached Week 4 and it brought some major statements. With three unbeaten teams still standing — and others looking to claw their way back — here’s how the Skook News Power 5 stacks up heading into Week 5.

1. Williams Valley (Last Week: 1) – Record: 4-0

The Vikings survived an absolute slugfest with Minersville, edging the Battlin’ Miners 43-40 in one of the season’s most thrilling games so far. Brady Shomper (125 yards, 3 TDs) and Fletcher Thompson (166 yards, 2 TDs) powered a ground game that controlled the clock just enough to keep Dante Carr at bay. Williams Valley’s defense bent more than it has all year, but the offense answered every challenge.

Next Opponent: at Tri-Valley (Friday)

2. Schuylkill Haven (Last Week: 2) – Record: 4-0

The Hurricanes steamrolled Mahanoy Area 69-0. Colton Reber ran for 206 yards and four touchdowns, while Niko Castillo added four more scores in a 482-yard offensive explosion. The night, however, was bittersweet: standout senior Niko Carestia suffered a leg injury. Haven has outscored opponents 211-33.

Next Opponent: Minersville (Thursday)

3. Marian Catholic (Last Week: 4) – Record: 4-0

The Colts kept rolling with a 34-6 win over Shenandoah Valley, their first 4-0 start since 2012. Rory Dixon erupted for 140 rushing yards and three touchdowns, while the defense forced key stops to prevent the Blue Devils from capitalizing on drives. Marian has allowed just 32 points all season and continues to find different playmakers each week.

Next Opponent: at Mahanoy Area (Friday)

4. Minersville (Last Week: 3) – Record: 3-1

The Battlin’ Miners dropped a heartbreaker to Williams Valley, but their performance proved they belong among the county’s elite. Dante Carr threw for 217 yards and 3 TDs while also rushing for 179 yards and 3 more scores, nearly pulling off a late comeback. Even in defeat, Minersville’s offense looks capable of challenging anyone — and Thursday’s showdown at Schuylkill Haven could be the game of the year.

Next Opponent: at Schuylkill Haven (Thursday)

5. Tri-Valley (Last Week: On the Bubble) – Record: 3-1

The Bulldogs are back in the Power 5 after hammering Nativity 42-13. Parker Hatter (130 yards, 3 TDs) and Cole Gemberling (117 yards, 2 TDs) led a rushing attack that piled up 293 yards. The defense continues to swarm, and Tri-Valley looks much more like the team that opened the year with promise. They’ll get a huge test this week hosting unbeaten Williams Valley.

Next Opponent: Williams Valley (Friday)

On the Bubble

  • Pottsville (2-2) – Rebounded with a 44-13 rout of Bangor, powered by JuJu Bainbridge’s 159 rushing yards and 3 total TDs. A tough trip to state-ranked Southern Lehigh looms.

  • North Schuylkill (2-2) – The Spartans fell 34-14 to Southern Lehigh, struggling to stop the run. Despite flashes from Luke Miller and Caden Mengel, NS has dropped two straight.

  • Nativity BVM (2-2) – After a 2-0 start, the Green Wave has lost back-to-back, including a 42-13 defeat to Tri-Valley.\
