A home in the Maizeville section of Gilberton was destroyed by fire late Friday night.
Emergency crews were dispatched to 1019 Main Street at 11:34 p.m. for reports of a house fire with possible entrapment. When police and firefighters arrived, they found heavy fire coming from the rear of the residence and thick smoke pushing out the front.
Firefighters battled the blaze for more than an hour before bringing it under control. No injuries were reported.
The fire completely destroyed the home. A State Police Fire Marshal responded to the scene and was investigating as crews worked through the overhaul process.
Multiple fire companies answered the alarm, including Gilberton, Englewood, Shenandoah, Frackville, and Mahanoy City. A tanker task force was also requested, bringing in tankers from Shenandoah, Mahanoy City, Fountain Springs, Gordon, Ringtown, and Hometown. Ryan Township Fire and Rescue responded with its rehab unit to support firefighters.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
