Free On-Street and Deck Parking Returns to Downtown Pottsville for the Holidays

Shoppers, diners, and visitors to Downtown Pottsville will once again enjoy free parking this holiday season.
Beginning Friday at 5:00 PM on December 13th and continuing through Sunday, January 4th, 2026, the City of Pottsville is offering free on-street parking as well as free access to select off-street parking facilities.

The following locations will be free to the public throughout the holiday period:
  • Arch Street City Lot at Centre Street, accessible from both Progress Avenue and Centre Street
  • Mahantongo Street Parking Deck, the city’s new three-tier, fully lit structure featuring elevator access
Mayor William Messaros and the Pottsville Parking Authority Board announced the return of the program, citing the strong response from last year’s initiative and its positive impact on business activity downtown.

Enforcement Continues in Permit-Only and Unsafe Areas

While most on-street and designated off-street lots will be free during the holiday promotion, the Parking Authority emphasized that permit-only lots that are currently full will remain enforced. These include:
  • Hotel Lot
  • Garfield Diner Lot
  • John Pott Facility
  • Capitol Parking Deck

Additionally, unsafe parking violations—such as blocking hydrants, driveways, crosswalks, or creating traffic hazards—will continue to be strictly enforced.
