John Di Filippo Sr., 81, of Middleport, entered into eternal rest peacefully at home on Friday. Born in Pottsville on January 12, 1944, he was the beloved son of the late Anthony and Rose DiSanto Phillips. A proud 1961 graduate of Nativity B.V.M. High School, John was a lifelong member of Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church in New Philadelphia.John was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Ann Marie Nancy, and his daughter, Marla Maryniak.
He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Feger of Schuylkill Haven; his son, John Di Filippo Jr., and wife Kendalle of Middleport; granddaughters Alexis Falcone and Karlee Feger; grandson John Ryan Di Filippo; and great-grandson Oliver Falcone. He is also lovingly remembered by his brothers Emmett Phillips (Joanne) of New Jersey and Anthony Phillips (Sandy) of Primrose; sisters Gloria Paltanavage of Minersville and Maria Bartush (Chester) of Pottsville; along with many nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.
John dedicated 43 years of service to the Postal Service in Pottsville, retiring at the age of 80. Known for his friendly smile and dependable nature, he touched countless lives along his route. Outside of work, he was an avid sports fan, proudly cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoyed spending time at the casino, where he found joy and camaraderie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Holy Cross Church, New Philadelphia. Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas J. Bartashus Funeral Home, New Philadelphia.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests monetary contributions, which will be directed toward the establishment of an award for a local graduating senior pursuing a career in the trades.
