High Winds Cause Power Outages Across Schuylkill County Friday Afternoon

High winds that moved through Schuylkill County Friday afternoon caused power outages, leaving more than 1,500 PPL Electric Utilities customers without power as of 2:00 p.m.

According to PPL outage data, a total of 1,583 customers were affected countywide, with several municipalities reporting significant outages.

The hardest-hit areas included Delano Township, where 577 customers were without power, and Cressona Borough, which reported 535 outages. Other communities experiencing notable outages included West Brunswick Township (98), Barry Township (81), Hegins Township (73), and Tremont Township (68).

Additional outages were reported in the following municipalities:

  • Butler Township – 26
  • Cass Township – 20
  • Port Clinton Borough – 19
  • Rush Township – 17
  • Hubley Township – 13
  • Pottsville – 22
  • Porter Township – 23
  • Eldred Township – 5
  • East Union Township – 3
  • North Manheim Township – 2
  • Blythe Township – 1
