The community-wide celebration is scheduled for Sunday, January 18, 2026, and marks the start of a year of historic programming, cultural showcases, and community engagement activities across the Commonwealth in advance of America’s Semiquincentennial.
America250PA serves as Pennsylvania’s official initiative to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States, with a focus on connecting residents of all ages to the history, innovation, and shared heritage that have shaped both the Commonwealth and the nation.
The Schuylkill County kick-off event will include opening remarks from America250PA representatives, comments from state and county officials, and presentations highlighting upcoming America250PA programs. Attendees will also be introduced to county and community-led activities planned throughout the anniversary year. Light refreshments will be available.
“This celebration is for everyone in our community, to reflect on our past and to spark excitement for the future,” said Schuylkill County Commissioner Gary Hess. “We welcome all residents and visitors to be part of this historic kick-off.”
The event will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the courthouse, located at 401 N. Second Street in Pottsville.
Community members are encouraged to register in advance to assist organizers with planning. Registration is available online at https://form.jotform.com/253344756467164.
