Lourdes Regional Shuts Down Mahanoy Area to Stay Perfect in Schuylkill League Division 2


Lourdes Regional delivered a dominant defensive performance Tuesday night, defeating Mahanoy Area 48–12 in a matchup between the top two teams in Schuylkill League Division 2.
Entering the contest, Mahanoy Area sat undefeated in league play at 5–0 (8–1 overall), while Lourdes Regional was close behind at 4–0 in the league and also 8–1 overall. Lourdes quickly asserted control and never looked back.

Lourdes set the tone early, holding Mahanoy Area scoreless in the first quarter while building an 8–0 lead. The visitors continued to apply pressure defensively in the second quarter, extending the margin to 25–4 at halftime. By the end of the third quarter, Lourdes led 38–10 before closing out the convincing win.

Kylie Sandri led Lourdes Regional with 16 points, knocking down four three-pointers. Hannah Lokitis added 12 points, while Sophia Karlovich chipped in 10. Additional scoring came from Alyssa Albert and Vivian Reiprish with three points each, Karmen Shroyer with two, and Onaleigh with two.

For Mahanoy Area, Felicia Bro paced the offense with six points. Naomi Kowalick scored four, while Juliana Wonsock and Ella Connoly each added one.

With the victory, Lourdes Regional improves to 5–0 in league play and remains unbeaten atop Division 2. Lourdes will look to continue its momentum when it hosts Nativity BVM on Wednesday night.

Mahanoy Area drops to 5–1 in league play, falling to second place in the division. The Bears will aim to bounce back on Thursday when they travel to Executive Education Academy Charter.
