Dorothy I. DeWire
, 95, of Rush Township, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2026, in Coaldale. She was the beloved wife of the late Franklin E. “Brutt” DeWire, with whom she shared 41 years of marriage before his passing in 1991. Born in Tamaqua, Dorothy was a daughter of the late William and Clara (Price) Derr. She was a 1948 graduate of Tamaqua High School and devoted her life to being a loving homemaker and caregiver to her family.

Dorothy was deeply committed to both her church and her community. A lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Tamaqua, she was actively involved throughout the years. She also served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and volunteered with Meals on Wheels. Above all else, Dorothy had a profound love for children. She was closely involved in the lives of her family, her nieces, and nephews, and especially her grandchildren, whom she adored.

She is survived by two sons, Gary DeWire and his wife Brenda of Berwick, and Brian DeWire of Hometown; three grandchildren, Deana DeWire and her husband Allen Swanson of Montana, Tiffany Lombardi and her husband William Lombardi of Hatfield, and Joshua DeWire of Lehighton; six great-grandchildren, Abby, Gavin, and Grace Lombardi, Franklin Swanson, and Jacob and Cora DeWire; three sisters, Thelma Paul of California, Nancy Schuchart of Hometown, and Mary Reed of Tamaqua; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Dorothy was predeceased by two sisters, Jean Everett and Florence Bonner, and three brothers, Martin, William, and Thomas Derr.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua, with The Rev. Karen Paquette officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10-11 AM. An interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Tamaqua, will take place at a later date.

Memorial contributions in Dorothy’s memory may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 124 West Broad Street, Tamaqua, PA 18252.

Arrangements are entrusted to Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Tamaqua.

Raymond “Duke” Tomko
, 83, a lifelong resident of Frackville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 20th, at Lehigh Valley Health Network–Schuylkill Hospital, Pottsville.

Born in Frackville, he was a son of the late Andrew and Helen (Havrilko) Tomko. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rosemary (Bloschichak) Tomko; his brothers, Bernard and Leonard Tomko; and his sisters, Veronica James and Mary Cate.

Duke is survived by his brother, Thomas Tomko, and his wife, Laura Dean Tomko, of Pittstown, New Jersey; his daughter, Stacey Tomko; his grandchildren: Kaia, Julian and Amari; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was employed as a plumber and was a proud member of the Plumbers Union. He served in the United States Army National Guard.

Duke was an active member of the community and proudly served as a former councilman and Mayor of Frackville. He was also on the board of the Frackville Municipal Sewer Authority. Duke belonged to the Knights of Columbus Council 2580 of Frackville, the Frackville Elks BPOE 1533, and the Frackville American Legion Post 398. In his free time, Duke enjoyed playing his daily numbers with the Pennsylvania Lottery.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 30th, at 12:00 noon at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 49 N. Line St., Frackville with Fr. Guency Isaac, pastor, as the celebrant. A Celebration of Duke’s Life will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Frackville Elks.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made, in Raymond’s name, to the charity of your choice.

Bernadette M. Zimmerman
, 61, of Mountain Rd., Pine Grove, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at home surrounded by her loving husband and children.

Born on November 18, 1964 in Horseheads, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Dominic Jr. and Vaughn Palmieri, and Michael and Margaret Ringwalske Terwilliger.

She was a graduate of Horseheads High School.

Bernadette had been an underwriter for Aetna Insurance, a secretary at the Pine Grove Area Middle School and most recently worked with her husband David in his construction business. She also owned her own business, Wing and a Prayer Creations. She was also know as being the fastest typer in New York.

She attended Grace Brethren Church, Manbeck's Zion EC Church and Life Center Church.

Bernadette enjoyed going to yard sales and thrift stores, crafting, sewing, boating with her husband, and camping. She also enjoyed going on a hunting trip to Idaho with her husband and going to their cabin in New York. Above all else, her favorite thing to do was spend time with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband of 30 years, David G. Zimmerman, Jr.; five children, Ashley Blampied and companion Jon Koenig, Blaine Blampied, Guy and wife Miranda Zimmerman, Christine Zimmerman, all of Pine Grove, Malerie and husband Mark Wagner of Cleona; seven grandchildren, Ella Cleary, Raegan, Harper and Claire Wagner, David, Emilia, and Henry Zimmerman; a brother, Dominic Palmieri, III of Scranton; three sisters, Colleen Barone, Christine Hostrander, and Brenda Palmieri, all of Elmira, N.Y.; two step sisters, Michelle McDermott of PA and Doreen Bowers of CA.; nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at 11:30 A.M. at the GroveLife Wesleyan Church, 74 Bethel Rd., Pine Grove with Pastor Joshua Ott officiating. There will be a viewing on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. at the Church. Interment will follow in Manbeck's Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven.

James L. "Jim" Martin, Sr.
of Summer Hill Rd., Schuylkill Haven, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Sch. East., Pottsville.

Born on October 8, 1952 in Lancaster, he was a son of the late Lester S. and Grace Gehman Martin and Doris Brubaker Martin.

Jim was a 1970 graduate of Pine Grove Area High School.

He was a self employed builder.

Jim was a member of Bethesda EC Church in Reedsville. He was also a member of the Pine Grove Area Ambulance Association and Schuylkill County Fair Association for many years.

Preceding him in death was a sister, Janet Weaver.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Betty Ann Herring Martin; a son, James Jr. and wife Cindy Ann Martin of Schuylkill Haven; two daughters, Brenda and husband Trevor Reichert of Townsend, MT, Sherry and husband Adam Hurst of Reno, NV; 6 grandchildren, James Martin, III, Holly Lyons, Corrine and Clint Reichert, Olivia and Dominic Hurst; three brothers, Jay and wife Mariann Martin of Lititz, Dale and wife Miriam Martin of Millerstown, Daryl and wife Judith Martin of Fredericksburg; two sisters, Doris and husband Duane Martin of New Holland, Marlene and husband Jesse Hursh of Morrisville, VT; nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at Bethesda EC Church, 155 Reedsville Rd., Schuylkill Haven with Pastor Mark Brooks officiating. There will be a visitation on Saturday, January 24, 2026 from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the Church. Interment will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to either the Bethseda EC Church, 23 Meadowbrook Rd., Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972 or the Roedersville Mennonite Church, c/o Jean Hurst, 1085 Rock Rd., Pine Grove, PA 17963 in his memory.

Jean M. Brossman
, 95, of Orwigsburg, passed away Tuesday, January 20th, at Providence Place, Pottsville.

Jean was born in Auburn, PA on February 1, 1930, a daughter of the late Martha Elizabeth (Kriner) and Russell Robert Webber.

She was the widow of Richard Benjamin Brossman.

Jean was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Orwigsburg, and graduated from Orwigsburg High School Class of 1947.
In addition to being a homemaker, she worked as a machine operator at the former Sylray in Orwigsburg.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Pam Steele, widow of James Steele and son, Eric Brossman, husband of Jody; grandchildren Cale and Kevin Steele, Christopher, Caitlin, and Sean Brossman, step grandson Brandon Edelman, great grandson Toby Steele and his companion Ashley Border, great great grandson Bryson Steele, nieces and nephews

She was predeceased by her sisters June Bakko and Esther Bachman

Services are private at the convenience of the family with private interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.

Deloris M. (Dolly) Stein
, 92, of Orwigsburg, passed away Monday, January 19th, while in the company of family, at her residence.

Dolly was born in Deer Lake, Pa. on September 19, 1933, a daughter of the late Elizabeth V. (Moyer) and Edward L.T. Moyer.

She was the wife of Norman L. Stein Jr. They were married on June 14, 1952.

Dolly was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Orwigsburg and she graduated from Orwigsburg High School, class of 1951.
She enjoyed being a homemaker and working on the family farm. Dolly was a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Orwigsburg Chapter, # 424. and the PA Farm Bureau.

In addition to Norman, her husband of over 73 years, Dolly is survived by three daughters, Marcia Tripp and her companion Eric Schlegel; Judy, wife of Allen Faust;
Ruth, wife of Edward Gruver; four sons Norman Stein, III, husband of Barbara; Raymond Stein, husband of Donna; Larry Stein, husband of Peggie; and James Stein, husband of Susan.
Dolly is also survived by her sister, Shirley A. P. Hartranft and her brother, Edward L. T. Moyer, husband of Ella. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
Dolly was preceded in death by a granddaughter Marcia Hannah Tripp and a sister Elizabeth " Betty" Folk-Hartung and son-in-law Charles Tripp.

A Religious Service will be held at 11:15 AM on Saturday, January 24th at Schuylkill Masonic Lodge No. # 138 F & AM in Orwigsburg, PA with Pastor Eugene Eckroth and Rev. Dr. ShinAe Kim officiating. There will be an Order of the Eastern Star service at 11:00. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Order of the Eastern Star, Orwigsburg Chapter, # 424, 730 West Market Street Orwigsburg, PA 17961.
Interment will be private at Steigerwalt's Church Cemetery.
