A Pottstown man is facing felony drug charges following a controlled drug purchase that allegedly led to the seizure of more than four pounds of methamphetamine in Shenandoah Borough.
According to court documents, Abdul Wakil Sheppard, 32, of Pottstown , was charged on January 21, 2026, with two felony counts of Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver a Controlled Substance.
The charges stem from an investigation conducted by local law enforcement in cooperation with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Police state that on January 21, 2026, investigators met with an FBI special agent at the Shenandoah Police Station to conduct a controlled purchase of methamphetamine using a confidential informant. The informant had arranged, via cell phone, to purchase methamphetamine from an unidentified individual who agreed to meet in Shenandoah Borough and stated they would arrive driving a white SUV.
Prior to the operation, the informant was searched and provided with pre-recorded U.S. currency and recording devices. Law enforcement established surveillance at the meeting location.
Authorities report that a silver Nissan Rogue arrived at the location and parked along the street. The informant entered the vehicle through the front passenger door. After several minutes, the driver exited the vehicle, retrieved a package from the rear of the SUV, and handed it to the informant before the informant exited and returned to their vehicle.
The informant then returned to the police station and turned over five plastic bags containing a white, crystal-like substance, which had been obtained during the exchange. The substance later tested positive for methamphetamine using a field test kit.
A traffic stop was subsequently initiated by local police with assistance from Pennsylvania State Police, and the driver was taken into custody. The driver was identified as Sheppard, who police say was wearing the same clothing observed during the transaction.
Authorities reported that the total weight of the suspected methamphetamine exceeded 4.5 pounds.
Sheppard was arraigned before Anthony Kilker, who set bail at $50,000 straight cash. Sheppard was committed to Schuylkill County Prison.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 29, 2026.
