Entering the contest, Tamaqua (7-3 league) held the final playoff position, while Pine Grove (6-4 league) was right on their heels. The overtime victory allowed the Lady Raiders to create some separation in the standings and move one step closer to clinching a postseason berth.
After four tightly contested quarters, the teams were deadlocked, forcing overtime. Tamaqua’s defense took over in the extra period, holding Pine Grove to just two points while scoring nine of their own to secure the seven-point win.
The Lady Raiders were led by Leah Black, who posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Lauren Ligenza also recorded a double-double, finishing with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Millie Black made a major impact on both ends of the floor, pulling down 11 rebounds and adding five steals.
Tamaqua’s balanced effort and strong rebounding proved to be the difference, as the Lady Raiders controlled the paint and limited Pine Grove’s scoring opportunities late in the game.
For Pine Grove, Meadow Umbenhauer led all scorers with 13 points. Callee Leffler added six points, while Lainey Fidler chipped in six.

With the win, Tamaqua improves to 8-3 in Schuylkill League play and now sits in a stronger position for the final playoff spot. The Lady Raiders will close out league play against Minersville, Panther Valley, and North Schuylkill.
Pine Grove falls to 6-5 in league play and is now tied for fourth place with Blue Mountain. The Lady Cardinals will need to win their final three games — against Pottsville, Blue Mountain, and Schuylkill Haven — to keep their playoff hopes alive.
