According to borough officials, Aqua Pennsylvania, Inc. shut down the water treatment plant Monday evening after a significant loss of pressure in the system. As of the early morning hours, the source of the leak has not yet been identified.
Aqua crews are actively canvassing the system in an effort to locate and repair the problem. The company remains in communication with borough officials and has committed to providing updates as more information becomes available.
Emergency Preparations in Place
In preparation for potential public safety needs, the Shenandoah Fire Department has established a tanker task force to ensure emergency water support is available if necessary.
Residents are reminded:

- For non-emergency assistance, contact 570-462-1991.
Officials expressed appreciation for the community’s patience as crews work to identify and resolve the issue.
Portable Water Supply Requested
The Borough of Shenandoah has requested that Aqua provide a portable water supply at the front of Borough Hall to allow residents to fill containers for essential use.
Borough officials have been advised that the portable water supply is expected to arrive later this morning or early this afternoon. Residents will be notified once it is delivered and operational.
Important: All water obtained from this temporary supply must be boiled before consumption, in accordance with the existing boil water advisory.
