The North Schuylkill Theater Program will take the stage this weekend with a production of Disney’s Newsies.
Performances are scheduled for Friday, March 26 and Saturday, March 27 at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, March 28 at 3:00 p.m. All shows will be held at North Schuylkill Jr./Sr. High School, located at 15 Academy Lane near Fountain Springs.
The production features a cast of approximately 50 students in grades 9 through 12. Leading roles include senior Vincent Puglia as Jack Kelly and senior Lorelai Grose as Katherine Plumber.
Newsies tells the story of the 1899 newsboys strike in New York City, where young newspaper sellers banded together to fight for fair treatment from powerful publishers. The show is known for its fast-paced musical numbers and dynamic choreography.
North Schuylkill’s performance will showcase dance routines choreographed with assistance from Artists in Motion in Schuylkill Haven, adding an extra level of energy and movement to the production.
