According to the Schuylkill County District Attorney’s Office, the Schuylkill County Drug Task Force and the Pennsylvania State Police Troop L—Reading Vice/Narcotics Unit began an investigation in February 2026 into the alleged distribution of methamphetamine in the City of Pottsville by David Junior Rich, 48.
As part of the investigation, authorities obtained a court-authorized search warrant for 323 Spring Garden Street in Pottsville.
On March 4, 2026, members of the Schuylkill County District Attorney’s Office, Drug Task Force, and Pennsylvania State Police executed the search warrant at the residence. Rich was detained upon entry along with one other occupant inside the home.
During a search of the residence, investigators reported locating methamphetamine, heroin, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
Authorities said Rich was interviewed following the search and allegedly admitted to selling both methamphetamine and heroin from the residence.
Rich was taken into custody and arraigned before on-call Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker of Shenandoah.
Bail was set at $100,000 straight, and Rich was committed to Schuylkill County Prison.
Rich is charged with the following offenses:
- Possession With Intent to Deliver (Methamphetamine and Heroin) – 2 counts
- Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine and Heroin) – 2 counts
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Possession of a Small Amount of Marijuana
