Schuylkill County has been issued a Tornado Watch by the National Weather Service for Monday evening.
The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for Schuylkill County and much of eastern and central Pennsylvania until 7:00 p.m. Monday as conditions become favorable for severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes.
Schuylkill County is among 26 counties across Pennsylvania included in the watch area, which stretches from the Philadelphia region westward through central Pennsylvania.
According to forecasters, strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to develop Monday afternoon, with the greatest threat for Schuylkill County anticipated between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
Meteorologists say storms moving through the region could bring:
- Damaging wind gusts
- Large hail
- Heavy rainfall
- The potential for isolated tornadoes
A tornado watch means that atmospheric conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms to develop. It does not mean a tornado has been spotted, but residents should remain alert and be prepared to take action if warnings are issued.
