The project will focus on a stretch of Route 309 between Ben Titus Road and Lofty Road, where drivers can expect ongoing lane restrictions in both northbound and southbound directions. PennDOT is advising motorists to allow extra travel time when passing through the work zone.
The nearly $4 million project will include a wide range of upgrades aimed at improving road conditions and safety. Planned work consists of roadway milling, concrete patching, shoulder reconstruction, replacement of center-median mountable curbing, paving, drainage improvements, and updates to guide rails.
The contractor for the project is New Enterprise Stone & Lime, Inc., based in New Enterprise, Pennsylvania. The total cost of the project is $3,999,845 and is expected to be completed by November 2026.
According to PennDOT, this section of Route 309 sees an average of more than 15,600 vehicles per day, making it a heavily traveled corridor in the region.
