Multi-Agency Police Response near Mahanoy City Leads to Arrests, Firearm Seizure, Immigration Violations

A routine complaint escalated into a multi-agency police response Saturday, resulting in multiple arrests, the seizure of a firearm, and the discovery of federal immigration violations.
According to a press release from Mahanoy Township Police, the incident began on April 11, 2026, when police responded to a loud music complaint in the Vulcan Road area. While investigating, Officer Maldonado reportedly detected gunshots in the distance and began tracking the source across multiple jurisdictions.

The investigation led officers to a windmill farm area along Route 339, a location authorities say had previously been associated with trespassing and suspicious activity.

Upon arrival, officers observed a large gathering in a remote area with multiple vehicles, some of which were equipped with roof-mounted speaker systems. A white BMW SUV was also positioned near the entrance to the gathering.

Due to the possibility of armed individuals, Officer Maldonado initiated a felony traffic stop and requested back up from nearby police units. Initial commands issued in English were reportedly ignored, prompting officers to give commands in Spanish, which resulted in compliance.

Eight individuals, seven males and one female, were taken into custody without incident.

Assisting agencies included the Mahanoy City Police Department, Shenandoah Police Department, and East Union Township Police Department. County communications personnel also assisted in coordinating the response and maintaining officer safety.

Authorities say the incident highlights coordination among multiple agencies. Additional details, including the identities of those taken into custody and any charges filed, have not yet been released.
