Two natives of northern Schuylkill County will take center stage at Penn State Schuylkill’s upcoming commencement ceremonies, serving as keynote speakers for the Class of 2026.
According to the university, Gabriel Kamarousky and Mike Rhoades will each address graduates during separate ceremonies scheduled for May.
Kamarousky, a 1996 graduate of North Schuylkill Jr.-Sr. High School, will deliver the commencement address during the Friday evening ceremony on May 8. The event will recognize students graduating from nursing and radiological sciences programs.
With more than two decades of experience in healthcare leadership, Kamarousky currently serves as president of Geisinger St. Luke’s. Over the course of his career, he has held roles ranging from CAT scan technologist to senior leadership positions with major regional health systems. His leadership helped bring the first new hospital to Schuylkill County in nearly 90 years and expand access to specialized care in the region.
Kamarousky, who resides in Cressona, is also active in the community, serving on several boards including those connected to the university and local economic development efforts.
The following day, May 9, Mike Rhoades will serve as the keynote speaker for the Saturday morning ceremony, which will honor graduates from all other academic programs.
Rhoades, a native of Mahanoy City, is currently the head coach of the Penn State Nittany Lions men's basketball program. He was named the program’s 15th head coach in 2023 and recently completed his third season leading the team.
Over a 22-year coaching career, Rhoades has compiled more than 400 wins, multiple NCAA Tournament appearances, and a reputation for developing talent at every level of college basketball. His recent success at Penn State includes leading one of the highest-scoring offenses in program history and securing key wins over nationally ranked opponents.
University officials said both speakers were selected for their leadership, regional ties, and ability to inspire graduates as they begin their next chapter.
Penn State Schuylkill will host both ceremonies inside its campus gymnasium, marking the culmination of the academic year for students earning associate and bachelor’s degrees.
