PUBLIC NOTICE: Cressona Seeks Proposals for Study on Future of Borough Pool

The Borough of Cressona is taking the next step toward evaluating the future of its outdoor pool, issuing a formal request for proposals (RFP) for a feasibility study focused on renovation and long-term improvements to the facility.
According to the notice, borough officials are seeking qualified consulting teams to assess the current condition of the existing pool and explore potential upgrades, modernization options, and broader recreation opportunities. The study will also examine community demand, estimated project costs, operational considerations, funding strategies, and phased implementation plans.

Borough leaders say the goal of the study is to support informed decision-making about the long-term future of the pool as both a community and regional recreational asset.

The project will be funded through a partnership between the Borough of Cressona and the Blue Mountain Recreation Commission, with support from Earned Income Tax (EIT) funds.

Firms interested in submitting proposals must do so by Friday, June 12, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.

An optional pre-proposal site visit is scheduled for May 5, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the borough’s outdoor pool complex or another designated location outlined in the RFP.

Questions from prospective bidders must be submitted by May 15, 2026, at 5:00 p.m., with responses and any addenda expected to be publicly posted by May 20, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.

The full RFP can be obtained through the Borough of Cressona’s website or by contacting the borough office at 68 South Sillyman Street.

Proposals must be submitted both electronically via email and as a sealed hard copy to the borough office.

Officials noted that consultant selection will be based on qualifications, experience, project approach, and overall value—not solely on cost. The borough also reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, request clarifications, and negotiate terms in the best interest of the community.

The notice was issued by Regina Sonon, Secretary/Treasurer for the Borough of Cressona.
