Jax Yohn picked up a milestone win Friday night at Big Diamond Speedway, earning his first career victory in the BQ Concrete 358 Modified division.
The 18-year-old Boyertown driver, now in just his second season in the headline class, continued his rapid rise at the Minersville dirt track. Yohn started seventh and quickly worked his way toward the front, moving past Rick Laubach after an early restart before battling Mike Lisowski for position.
Yohn cleared Lisowski on lap nine and took over the lead one lap later. From there, he held off pressure from Lisowski and Duane Howard to score the breakthrough victory.
“I’ve always wanted to be at this level and tonight my crew gave me a great car, and it all just played to perfection,” Yohn said.
Lisowski finished second, followed by Howard, Louden Reimert, and Tim Fitzpatrick.
In the USAC East Coast Sprint Cars presented by Baer Den Farms, Christian Bruno of Deptford, New Jersey, scored the 25-lap feature win. Bruno battled early leader Kyle Spence through several restarts before finally taking command on lap eight. Stephen Drevicki finished second, with Spence third.
Dakota Kohler of Virginville earned the victory in the USS Achey Inc. 602 Crate Sportsman feature. Kohler moved into second within the first three laps, then took the lead from McKenzie Smith one lap later. He stayed out front through pressure from Ryan Graver and Nate Brinker before rain brought the race to an early end with four laps remaining.
In the Big Creek Concrete Rookie 602 Crate Sportsman feature, Devin Whitmoyer of Hamburg drove to his first career feature win. Whitmoyer started on the pole and led the way to the checkered flag, finishing ahead of Josh Metzger.
