A Frost Advisory has been issued for Schuylkill County and much of central Pennsylvania as temperatures are expected to drop into the mid-30s overnight Monday into Tuesday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, the advisory will be in effect from midnight Monday night until 8:00 a.m. Tuesday.
Forecasters say temperatures could fall as low as 34 degrees, creating conditions favorable for widespread frost formation.
The advisory also includes the counties of Blair, Huntingdon, Mifflin, Juniata, Bedford, Fulton, Southern Clinton, Southern Lycoming, Union, Snyder, Montour, Northumberland, and Columbia.
Residents are urged to take precautions to protect sensitive outdoor vegetation. Plants left uncovered overnight could be damaged or killed by the cold temperatures and frost.
Gardeners and homeowners are encouraged to bring potted plants indoors or cover sensitive plants with sheets, blankets, or frost cloths before temperatures drop overnight.
Temperatures are expected to warm after sunrise Tuesday morning as the advisory expires at 8:00 a.m.
