Motorists traveling between Ashland and Shenandoah next week should be prepared for traffic delays as PennDOT crews complete a milling and paving project along Route 54.
According to PennDOT, maintenance forces will perform roadway improvements on Route 54 between Ashland Borough and Shenandoah Borough beginning Tuesday, June 2, 2026, and continuing through Friday, June 5, 2026.

The project will take place through Butler, West Mahanoy, and Mahanoy townships and will involve milling the existing roadway surface and applying new pavement.

Work will be conducted daily from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. During those hours, motorists can expect lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flaggers.
