A Minersville man is facing multiple charges after Pennsylvania State Police say he repeatedly called 911 Thursday threatening “suicide by cop” and telling troopers he intended to “shoot it out” with police at his Cass Township residence.
According to court documents filed by the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, Alex W. Spaid, 40, of Minersville, was charged with felony aggravated assault, terroristic threats, simple assault, misuse of the 911 system, disorderly conduct, and harassment.
Police say Schuylkill County 911 received at least five calls from Spaid on May 14, 2026, during which he allegedly stated he wanted police to come to his home on Sunbury Road in Cass Township and kill him.
According to the affidavit, Spaid allegedly told Troopers that he wanted to commit “suicide by cop” and said when police arrived, he intended to “shoot it out” with officers and would not leave the home alive. Court papers state he repeatedly requested police be sent to the residence.
State Police from Frackville and Schuylkill Haven responded to the home around 6:10pm, established a perimeter, and ordered Spaid to surrender and get on the ground. Troopers say Spaid initially refused commands before surrendering approximately 20 minutes later.
Investigators said Spaid was found in possession of two pistol magazines, while a Taurus G2C 9mm pistol was reportedly located on the front window sill of the residence.
Spaid was charged with the following offenses:
- Aggravated Assault – Fear of Imminent Serious Bodily Injury to Designated Individuals (Felony 1)
- Terroristic Threats (Misdemeanor 1)
- Simple Assault (Misdemeanor 2)
- Communications with 911 Systems (Misdemeanor 2)
- Disorderly Conduct (Misdemeanor 3)
- Harassment by Communication (Misdemeanor 3)
- Harassment – Subjecting Another to Physical Contact (Summary)
