A Tremont man is wanted by police after St. Clair officers filed multiple charges alleging a pattern of stalking, threats, harassment, and an assault involving a borough resident.
According to court records, Michael Joseph Workman Jr., 37, of Tremont, has been charged with stalking, terroristic threats, simple assault, two counts of harassment, and disorderly conduct following an investigation by the St. Clair Police Department. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Police were dispatched to a residence in the 500 block of South Front Street on May 24, 2026, for a welfare check involving an individual who reported being threatened.
According to an affidavit filed by Officer Shaun Wiest, the victim told police he had been subjected to ongoing stalking, harassment, and threats from Workman. The victim alleged that Workman frequently drove past and parked outside his residence and confronted him over a mutual female acquaintance.
The victim reportedly provided police with video footage recorded prior to officers' arrival. While reviewing the video, police observed Workman confronting the victim and allegedly lunging toward him in an aggressive manner with a closed fist.
During the encounter, police said Workman allegedly made statements indicating the situation would continue and that the victim's problems were "going to continue to rise." At another point, Workman allegedly exited his vehicle and charged toward the victim with a closed fist before the recording ended.
The victim told police that Workman attempted to strike him and made contact with his chest during the incident.
Investigators also reviewed a second video provided by the victim, which allegedly showed another confrontation between the two men. According to the affidavit, the victim accused Workman of coming to the residence with the intent to assault him, and Workman did not deny the accusation during the recorded exchange.
Police said the victim also provided electronic messages allegedly sent by Workman that contained threats to come to the residence, "toss his house," and "burn his house down."
Later the same day, the victim reported that Workman had returned to the area and that someone was using a bullhorn outside the residence. The victim's ex-girlfriend also reportedly discovered a clear plastic bag placed beneath the windshield wiper of the victim's vehicle containing printed text message conversations and handwritten notes.
Police said the victim expressed fear for his safety and the safety of his family due to what he described as continued stalking, threats, and harassment.
Based on witness statements, video evidence, threatening communications, and the circumstances surrounding the investigation, police filed the charges against Workman.
Court records show Workman has been charged with:
- Stalking — Repeatedly Committing Acts to Cause Fear (Misdemeanor 1)
- Terroristic Threats (Misdemeanor 1)
- Simple Assault (Misdemeanor 2)
- Harassment – Subject Other to Physical Contact (Summary)
- Harassment – Course of Conduct With No Legitimate Purpose (Summary)
- Disorderly Conduct – Engage in Fighting (Summary)
The case has been filed before Magisterial District Judge Edward M. Lewis and is awaiting a preliminary hearing.
