According to Berks County Coroner Matthew Stitzel, Officer Yeager, 42, was responding to assist a neighboring police department Friday evening when the police cruiser she was operating left the roadway and struck a tree. Authorities said Yeager was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
Yeager suffered fatal injuries and was transported to Reading Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 8:42 p.m. on May 29.
An autopsy was performed on June 1 by Dr. Neil Hoffman at Reading Hospital. The examination determined the cause of death to be multiple blunt force injuries.
The manner of death remains pending as investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash. The investigation is being conducted jointly by the Pennsylvania State Police Reading Station and the Berks County Coroner's Office.
No additional details regarding the cause of the crash have been released as the investigation remains ongoing.
