The Pottsville City Democratic Committee has elected Lynn Strausser as its new chairperson.
Strausser was officially elected during the committee's regularly scheduled monthly meeting, becoming the first woman to serve as chair in the committee's history.
A lifelong Democrat, Strausser was born and raised in Palo Alto and continues to call the community home. She is the daughter of Emma Gradwell Strausser and the late Dan Strausser.
Committee officials said Strausser's election represents a significant milestone for the organization and reflects her longstanding dedication to both the Democratic Party and the local community.
Following her election, Strausser expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to lead the committee and work alongside members, elected officials, and residents throughout Pottsville.
She said she looks forward to strengthening community involvement and continuing to advocate for issues that are important to local families and neighborhoods.
