Newly Ordained Priest Assigned to Schuylkill Haven Parish Among Diocese of Allentown Appointments


Following the ordination of six new priests at the Cathedral of Saint Catharine of Siena in Allentown on Saturday, Bishop Alfred Schlert announced their first parish assignments, including one appointment that will bring a newly ordained priest to Schuylkill County.
Effective Tuesday, June 16, 2026, Reverend Hy Gia Ngô has been assigned as Parochial Vicar of Saint Ambrose Parish in Schuylkill Haven. He is one of six men ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Allentown during ceremonies held earlier in the day at the Cathedral of Saint Catharine of Siena.

The assignments announced by Bishop Schlert are as follows:Reverend Dominic C. Civitella, Parochial Vicar, Saint Thomas More Parish, Allentown.
  • Reverend Tyler D. Davis, Parochial Vicar, Saint Catharine of Siena Parish, Reading.
  • Reverend Tyler W. Loch, Parochial Vicar, Cathedral of Saint Catharine of Siena, Allentown.
  • Reverend Anh Do Mai, Parochial Vicar, Saint Anne Parish, Bethlehem.
  • Reverend Hy Gia Ngô, Parochial Vicar, Saint Ambrose Parish, Schuylkill Haven.
  • Reverend Jeffrey S. Tomczyk, Parochial Vicar, Saint Jane Frances de Chantal Parish, Easton.
The appointments were announced by Bishop Schlert following the ordination Mass at the Cathedral of Saint Catharine of Siena. The assignments mark the beginning of pastoral ministry for the newly ordained priests throughout the Diocese of Allentown.

Saint Ambrose Parish in Schuylkill Haven will welcome Reverend Ngô as its new Parochial Vicar beginning June 16.
