Schuylkill County Democratic Committee Re-Elects Leadership During Reorganization Meeting

The Schuylkill County Democratic Committee (SCDC) held its reorganization meeting on Saturday, June 6, 2026, where committee members elected officers to lead the organization for the next four years.

Pennsylvania law requires the state's political parties and county committees to reorganize every four years during gubernatorial election years. During the meeting, Schuylkill County's two Democratic State Committee members and 95 elected precinct committee members were eligible to vote. According to the committee, 80 members attended the meeting.

Three candidates were nominated for the position of chairperson: Todd Zimmerman, Tina Burns, and Mike Zvalaren. Following the vote, Zimmerman was re-elected as chairman by a majority vote.

In addition to Zimmerman, the committee re-elected its three other current officers:
  • Josephine Kwiatkowski, Vice Chair
  • Mary Mack, Treasurer
  • Cindy Drzenovich, Secretary

The four officers will continue to lead the county Democratic organization through the 2030 election cycle.

Following the election, Zimmerman said the committee remains focused on advocating for county residents and promoting the priorities outlined in the organization's "Schuylkill Citizens' Bill of Rights."

The document, first introduced two years ago, outlines a series of principles and policy priorities, including equal treatment under government, workplace protections, collective bargaining rights, support for public education, environmental protections, affordable healthcare, Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, and a legal system that guarantees due process while supporting victims and their families.

"We will continue to fight for the rights of all Schuylkill County citizens," Zimmerman said in a statement announcing the results of the reorganization meeting.

The Schuylkill County Democratic Committee is responsible for supporting Democratic candidates, organizing local party activities, and representing Democratic voters throughout Schuylkill County.
