Jane Ann OBrien
, age 58, of Pottsville, PA passed away Saturday, June 13th, 2026 at her home.

Born in Pottsville, PA on October 7, 1967, she was the daughter of Sally (Strausser) Yeager.

Jane was a graduate of Pottsville Area High School, Class of 1985, She worked as an Income Maintenance Caseworker at Schuylkill County Assistance Office in Pottsville. Jane loved traveling, decorating, doing crafts, and just being with her family.

Jane was preceded in death by her grandson Xavier.

Jane is survived by her husband of 43 years, Michael Patrick O'Brien, Sr.; son Michael P. O'Brien, Jr.; daughters: Kassandra L. O'Brien and Mary-Kate O'Brien; grandchildren: Mason, Ava, Carmine, and Lorenzo; brother Robert Yeager and his wife Meg; sisters: Judy Blaine and her husband Rick, and Ann Yeager; her four black cats, and nieces and nephews

A Memorial Service will be held at Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, Port Carbon at 7PM on Friday, June 19th, 2026.

Relatives and Friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday evening from 5-7PM at the Funeral Home.

Interment will be held private at the convenience of the Family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hillside SPCA P.O. Box 233 Pottsville, PA 17901.

Joseph Micheal Evans, Jr
, age 33, of Pottsville, PA passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 12th, 2026.

Born in Pottsville, PA on May 10, 1993, he was the son of Joseph Michael and Christine (Miske) Evans.

Joe was a graduate of Blue Mountain High School, Class of 2012. He worked as a carpenter and loved to play the drums and the guitar.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Eugene Miske and uncle Jarred Evans.

In addition to his parents, Joe is survived by brother Dylan Evans; sisters: Gabrielle and Satrina Evans; nephews: Kayden and Cameron Evans and Myles Dekle; niece on the way Stella Joe; aunts: Rochelle Evans and her husband Gerald and Gina Marie Klein; uncles: Irvin Evans Jr. and his wife Kelly and James Miske and his wife Donna; maternal grandmother Marie (Powlick) Miske; paternal grandparents Irvin and Mary Ann (Douglas) Evans. and many cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held at Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, Port Carbon at 11AM on Saturday, June 20th, with his uncle Irvin Evans officiating.

Relatives and Friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday from 9-11AM at the Funeral Home.

Interment will be held private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to help with Joe's funeral costs to the Robert A Evans Jr Funeral Home 208 Pike Street Port Carbon, PA 17965.

Orin Kenneth Anderson
, 82, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Sunday, June 14th, at Laurel Nursing Home, Hamburg.

Orin was born in Schuylkill Haven on August 10, 1943, a son of the late Herbert L. & Christine M. (Dewald) Anderson.

Married 56 years, he was the husband of Roberta Jane (Winn) Anderson.

Orin was a 1961 graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School.

He was the owner of the former Schuylkill Sanitation Company and later retired from Lehigh Valley Dairies.

He was a longtime member of Schuylkill Masonic Lodge No. 138, and served as Past Master in 1973.

In addition to his wife, Orin is also survived by five children: Debbie Jo Anderson, Cindy D. Close, wife of John, Scott A. Anderson, Lance O. Anderson, & Michelle L. Anderson, 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and his sister, Gaye Schaffner, wife of John.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother, Richard Anderson.

Services will be privately held at the family’s convenience.

The family prefers remembrances in the form of contributions in Orin’s name to American Diabetes Association - P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.

Anne M. Lipsky, 86, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 10th at home.

She was born in Pottsville on August 17, 1939, a daughter of the late William and Helen (McNamara) Minnichbach. She was the widow of Edward Lipsky. She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers Leslie (Kuss) and Howard and 2 sisters Rosella and Madeline (Madge) Frew. Despite being the last surviving member of her family, she will be missed by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Anne was a devoted member of Saint Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven.

Anne enjoyed life by picnicking with family at the family’s “Park,” county/regional state parks, and “glamping” at her creekside campsite. She enjoyed traveling for vacations and taking bus trips. Anne was a big fan of the Phillies as well as figure skating. In 2007, she was thrilled to be in the audience for the Skate America competition in Reading. Anne had been an avid reader, and her favorite author was Nicholas Sparks. Her longtime BFF, Hazel, made sure to send Anne a signed copy of his latest book. Anne looked forward to weekly luncheons at Palermo’s with 3 of her beloved cousins: Babs, Judy, and Brian.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, June 23rd at St. Ambrose Church, Schuylkill Haven, with Rev. Msgr. Edward S. Zemanik officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:15 am until time of Mass. Interment will follow at Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Geschwindt Stabingas Ebling Funeral Home, Inc., Schuylkill Haven.

Howard Schaeffer Mengel, Jr.
, 85, of W. Brunswick Twp., passed away Sunday, June 14th, at The Gardens of York Terrace, Pottsville.

Howard was born in W. Brunswick Twp, on July 30, 1940, a son of the late Florence (Kohler) and Howard S Mengel, Sr.

He was the husband of Nancy Louise (Fromm) Mengel.

Howard was a member of Lighthouse Church.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He was a self-employed Contractor primarily in home repair.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Mengel, and William Mengel, and a sister, Ethel Rarick.

Howard is survived by his wife, Nancy, two daughters, Sandra Bigg and Cynthia Bell, as well as a son, Steven Verdensky. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.

All services are private at the convenience of the family.

Joseph A. Morris “Jouzuk”
, 73, of Shenandoah, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Schuylkill East, Pottsville.

Born in Shenandoah on February 18, 1953, he was the son of the late Joseph and Jean Morris.

Joseph was a 1972 graduate of Shenandoah Valley High School and then proudly served his country in the United States Army, he then went on to work many years as a bus driver for the Shenandoah Valley School District. He enjoyed going for walks, joking with his family and friends, also listening to the music of Elvis.

Besides his parents, he was preceded by 2 sisters- Jean Ann and Joanne

His surviving family includes his wife of 48 years – Chae Morris, his daughter- Tanya Morris of Shenandoah, his brother- Donald Morris of Shenandoah, his sister- Diane Morris of Colorado, and 3 grandchildren- Ashley Duran, Alishza Freil, and Noah Forker.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, June 23rd from 9 to 10am at the Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc, Shenandoah. Graveside services will be conducted at 10:15 in Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.

Roy W. Mengel
, 93, of Frackville, passed away peacefully Friday June 12, 2026 at Shenandoah Senior Living Community.

Born in Frackville, December 3, 1932, He was a son of the late Roy and Dorothy (Gradwell) Mengel. A lifelong resident of the community he loved, Roy was a graduate of Frackville High School in 1950.

He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Following his service, he built a long career in banking, working for Home Savings and Loan.

Roy was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church in Frackville; he was also a member of Frackville Elks Lodge 1533, Frackville American Legion Post 398 and the Frackville Masonic Lodge. He especially enjoyed organizing and planning the Frackville High School Reunions. Roy loved people. He always had a story to tell folks and a smile for everyone.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Lori Fischer; Brother Bruce Mengel, and Bruce’s wife Betty.

Roy is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years Shirley (Lowthert) Mengel; his daughter Lisa Dower, and her husband Michael, of Wyomissing; his son-in-law Samual Fischer; his grandchildren, Jessica Stabile, Michael Dower, Caleb Fischer, Seth Fischer, and Matt Fischer; his great granddaughter, Emerson Staile; Nieces and Nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 19, 2026, at First United Methodist Church, 25 South Balliet St. Frackville, PA 17931 with The Rev. Arturo Bautista officiating. Friends may call from 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM on Friday at the church. Burial with military honors will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Frackville.
