The Eagles scored 21 points in the opening quarter and never looked back, finishing with 346 yards of offense while holding the Olympians to just 50 total yards.
Junior quarterback Cohen Kirby completed 10 of 13 passes for 161 yards and three touchdowns. Kirby opened the scoring with a 49-yard touchdown pass to junior Kole Luckenbill before connecting with senior Chase Guers for a 45-yard score.
Blue Mountain added a safety when a Jim Thorpe punt snap went out of the end zone. Kirby then found Guers for a 4-yard touchdown, and Frank Russo’s extra point gave the Eagles a 21-0 lead after the first quarter.
Sophomore Sonny Amato extended the lead with a 9-yard touchdown run during the second quarter. Russo added the extra point to send Blue Mountain into halftime with a 28-0 advantage.
The Eagles added 13 more points in the third quarter. Junior Brody Foose scored on a 4-yard run before Amato returned an interception 56 yards for a touchdown.
Freshman Dalton Daubert completed the scoring with a 5-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Foose led Blue Mountain’s ground game with 104 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries. Amato carried six times for 47 yards and scored twice—once on offense and once on defense. Daubert added 28 yards and a touchdown on five attempts.
Guers caught five passes for 82 yards and two touchdowns, while Luckenbill recorded three receptions for 68 yards and a score. Guers also intercepted a pass on defense.
Blue Mountain’s defense limited Jim Thorpe to eight first downs and negative-24 rushing yards on 30 attempts. The Eagles intercepted two passes and recovered one of the Olympians’ three fumbles.
Junior Tyler Hoherchak led Jim Thorpe’s offense, completing 6 of 13 passes for 59 yards. Sophomore Dominic Calcano completed 2 of 7 attempts for 15 yards. Senior Angel Rivera led the Olympians with three catches for 18 yards.
Blue Mountain finished with 17 first downs, 185 rushing yards and 161 passing yards. Jim Thorpe recorded 74 passing yards but was held to 50 yards of total offense.
The victory moved Blue Mountain to 1-0, while Jim Thorpe fell to 0-1.
