Maryland Man Already Wanted in Schuylkill County Faces 87 New Charges

A Maryland man already wanted by police in Schuylkill County is now facing 87 additional charges after Pennsylvania State Police allege he repeatedly submitted false child abuse reports and made disparaging social media posts targeting members of an East Union Township family.
The new charges against Kevin Joseph Needle, 44, of Mount Airy, Maryland, were filed Thursday, August 20, 2026, by Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville.

Needle was already wanted in connection with a separate case filed by East Union Township Police on July 22. In that case, police accused him of entering a Green Mountain Road residence despite an active Protection From Abuse order and repeatedly threatening to shoot a woman and her boyfriend and burn the residence.

According to the new criminal complaint, State Police began investigating after receiving ChildLine referrals alleging abuse involving a 14-year-old girl and a 6-year-old girl who lived with the family on Green Mountain Road.

The affidavit states that five referrals were initially forwarded to the investigating trooper on July 20, followed by another referral on July 23 and three more on July 27. A Child Protective Services supervisor subsequently told investigators that nine anonymous referrals had been submitted alleging abuse against the family.

According to the affidavit, the supervisor suspected Needle was behind the reports because the allegations contained information similar to claims he had allegedly made publicly on Facebook. Investigators were provided screenshots of posts from an account police attributed to Needle.

Police allege those posts contained disparaging and sexually explicit statements about a juvenile and accused several members of the family of child abuse, drug use and other misconduct.

The criminal complaint alleges Needle ultimately submitted 27 false ChildLine reports between July 15 and August 15. The complaint also alleges he made two disparaging Facebook posts about a juvenile concerning the child's mental health, physical health and sexual activity.

State Police say investigators worked to identify the source of the ChildLine reports. According to the affidavit, a Schuylkill County District Attorney's Office detective requested information from ChildLine regarding the telephone number associated with the anonymous reports.

Police allege the results showed that the number used to submit the anonymous reports was the same telephone number associated with Needle. Investigators said the number also matched information provided by the alleged victim and Maryland State Parole and Probation.

The investigation continued into August, with police reporting another ChildLine referral on August 2, four more on August 3 and seven additional referrals between August 12 and August 15.

The new criminal case includes 27 misdemeanor counts of false reports of child abuse, two misdemeanor counts of cyber harassment of a child, 29 misdemeanor counts of stalking, and 29 summary counts of harassment, for a total of 87 charges.

The affidavit states that investigators learned on July 29 that Needle already had an active arrest warrant stemming from the separate East Union Township Police investigation. State Police also contacted Maryland State Probation and Parole and confirmed that Needle was on probation.

Needle is now wanted in connection with both Schuylkill County criminal cases.

The earlier case includes a felony count of criminal trespass, two misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats and two misdemeanor harassment charges. East Union Township Police alleged Needle violated an active PFA by entering the Green Mountain Road property and repeatedly contacting and threatening the protected woman.

The new case was filed before Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker on August 20.

Anyone who knows Needle's whereabouts should contact law enforcement and should not attempt to apprehend him themselves.
