Frog Hollow Volunteer Opportunities
The Conservancy will offer volunteer opportunities from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1, and Tuesday, September 8, at the Frog Hollow Nature Center, 170 Stone Mountain Road near Friedenberg.Volunteers will help with light gardening in the center’s wildflower garden while learning about local wildflowers.
Participants are encouraged to bring gloves and a trowel, if available. Anyone with questions or concerns about a possible weather-related cancellation can contact Brad at 570-507-1991.
Schuylkill County Conservancy Annual Meeting and Dinner
The Schuylkill County Conservancy’s Annual Meeting and Dinner will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, September 13, at the R. Fryer Conference Center at Penn State Schuylkill.Porcupine Pat will present “Schuylkill County Helped Build a Nation,” highlighting the county’s contributions to America’s growth, including the world’s largest steam engine and America’s first automobile.
The cost is $45 for Conservancy members and $50 for nonmembers. Reservations are required by Friday, September 4.

Schuylkill County Sketchers Nature Walk
A Schuylkill County Sketchers Nature Walk is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, September 19, at Sweet Arrow Lake County Park near Pine Grove. Participants will meet at the waterfall parking lot off Waterfall Road.
The free walk will be led by Audrey Wells, a naturalist with the Schuylkill County Conservancy. The event is open to all ages, and no previous art experience is necessary.
Participants should bring something to draw on and something to draw with. The relaxed nature walk will focus on observation and sketching rather than serving as a formal art workshop.

Woodland Field Visit
The Conservancy will host a Woodland Field Visit from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, September 26, at 107 Second Mountain Road near Pine Grove, east of Hidden Valley Golf Course.
Visitors will tour property owned by Jay Klebe and observe discussions between woodland professionals and the landowner about forest stewardship. Topics will include timber and forest health, wildlife habitat, water resources, landowner goals and long-term stewardship options.
The visit will be led by members of the Schuylkill County Conservancy Woodland Stewardship Committee and Will Thomas, a service forester with the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Bureau of Forestry.
The program is free and open to the public. Participants should dress appropriately for the weather and for walking through a forest.
