Eric (Rick) Robert Leiby, 72, passed into eternal rest on July 31, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Barbara A. Leiby for 51 ½ years.
Born in Pottsville, Rick was the son of the late Robert and Anne (Kemner) Leiby.
Rick graduated from Tamaqua Area High School in 1972 and the Municipal Officers Training Program of the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in 1984. He worked for Walker Township in various roles including Roadmaster, Chief of Police, Constable, and Zoning Officer. He was a member of the FOP and served on the Schuylkill County Drug Task Force.
Rick had a lifelong love of farming that began on his parents’ dairy, orchard, and produce farm. He was the owner of Leiby’s Farm Market in Lewistown Valley which he managed with his wife and daughter. He also served as a member of the Schuylkill County Conservation District Board for 13 years.
Rick was a devoted member of Christ Evangelical Free Church, Lehighton, for more than 40 years where he served at various times as a deacon, elder, Sunday School teacher, member of the security team, and chairman of the missions committee.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Benjamin Leiby, of Philadelphia, a daughter, Elizabeth Leiby of Lewistown Valley, a brother Jonathan Leiby (Kim) of Hico, Texas, and a sister, Roxanne Farrell (Ron) of Lewistown Valley along with nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Christ EFC, 2420 Blakeslee Blvd. Dr. West, Lehighton, 18235 with burial following in the church cemetery. Family and friends may visit with the family beginning at 10 a.m. Contributions in Rick’s memory can be made to Christ EFC. Arrangements are entrusted to Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home and Cremation services, Inc., Tamaqua.

Shirley M. Salada, 89, of Tower City, passed away early Monday morning, August 3, 2026 at her home.
Born in Tower City on Saturday, August 15, 1936, she was a daughter of the late William and Lydia Crabb Michaels.
Shirley was a certified nursing assistant, retiring from the Tremont Health & Rehabilitation Center.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Hubler, and a brother, Charles Michaels.
Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Ronald Salada; four children, Richard Bowman, South Carolina, Lori Gettle, Tower City, Tracy Verworren, Alabama, and Kelly Dunlop, Williamstown; eight grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren.
Shirley will be laid to rest in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
The Dimon Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., Tower City, is honored to serve Shirley's family.
