Meet the Schuylkill County Marching Bands 2026: North Schuylkill High School Spartan Marching Band

The North Schuylkill High School Spartan Marching Band is bringing a disco mystery to the field this season with its 2026 show, “Mirrorball Mayhem.”

The mirrorball has disappeared, and the Spartans will tell the story through music from the 1970s, including “Boogie Shoes,” “Superstition,” “Let’s Groove” and “Disco Inferno.”

The band has 46 musicians in grades seven through 12, along with 31 color guard members and 24 cheerleaders. Cora Ortiz and Joseph Fearon serve as drum majors.

Director of Bands Jacob Shoener is in his sixth year leading the Spartan Marching Band and his seventh year teaching in the North Schuylkill School District. The band staff includes Assistant Band Director Doug Cole, Percussion Instructor Derek Seiger, Color Guard Instructor Nevaida Rau, staff members Amy Lapointe and Katrina Schicatano, and Drill Designer Christopher Jay Evans. Cheer advisors are Allison Hughes, Leah Wallace and Melissa Tenaglia.

The band’s goal, whether performing at a competition or a football game, is to deliver an entertaining, high-quality musical performance. The band also thanked the North Schuylkill Band Boosters for their support of the students and program.

The Spartans are scheduled to participate in a Tournament of Bands adjudication on Saturday, October 3. They will also present their third Band-O-Rama Marching Band Fall Concert on Tuesday, October 20, at 7 p.m. in the North Schuylkill High School gymnasium.
