The two candidates seeking to represent Pennsylvania’s 9th Congressional District will meet in a public debate at Penn State Schuylkill ahead of the November election.
Congressional Debate Scheduled at Penn State Schuylkill
The Schuylkill County Chamber of Commerce announced Monday that it will host the debate between Republican incumbent U.S. Rep. Dan Meuser and Democratic challenger Rachel Wallace on Tuesday, October 20, at 7 p.m.
Members of the public can RSVP online to attend the congressional debate.
The event will take place two weeks before Pennsylvania voters head to the polls for the November 3 general election. Additional information about the debate’s format and moderator was not included in the announcement.
About Dan Meuser
Meuser, a Republican from Dallas Township in Luzerne County, was first elected to Congress in 2018 and took office in January 2019. He is serving his fourth term and is seeking reelection to a fifth two-year term representing the 9th District.
Before entering Congress, Meuser served as Pennsylvania’s secretary of revenue from 2011 through 2015 under former Gov. Tom Corbett. He previously worked as an executive at Pride Mobility Products, a Luzerne County-based manufacturer of mobility equipment.
Meuser currently serves on the House Financial Services Committee and House Small Business Committee.
About Rachel Wallace
Wallace, a Pottsville native and Pottsville Area High School graduate, announced her campaign for the congressional seat on October 1, 2025.
She began her public-service career working for former Schuylkill County Congressman Tim Holden. Wallace later held positions in the U.S. Senate, State Department and White House.
During the Biden administration, she served as chief of staff for presidential personnel before becoming chief of staff at the White House Office of Management and Budget. Wallace returned to Schuylkill County after leaving that position in 2023.
Wallace has said her campaign will focus on lowering the cost of living, protecting access to affordable health care and directing federal resources to local fire companies, health clinics and community projects. She has also identified support for veterans and farmers and reducing the national debt as campaign priorities.

Pennsylvania’s 9th Congressional District includes all of Schuylkill, Bradford, Columbia, Lebanon, Montour, Northumberland, Sullivan, Susquehanna and Wyoming counties, along with portions of Berks, Luzerne and Lycoming counties.
