Ringtown Valley Senior Citizens will celebrate 50 years of serving the community with a free open house , from 1 to 4 p.m. at the senior center, 104 W. Main St. in Ringtown.
The celebration falls 50 years to the day after the group’s first meeting on Sept. 19, 1976. Visitors can explore displays of the organization’s history and artifacts, play games, enjoy light refreshments and enter door prize drawings. A health and wellness station will offer blood pressure checks and other information.
Visitors who bring new greeting cards for long-term care residents as part of the group’s service project will receive an extra door prize ticket.
Open House Schedule
- 12:45 p.m.: Doors open.
- 1 p.m.: Welcome and invocation.
- 1:15 to 2 p.m.: Trivia and a meet-and-greet.
- 2 p.m.: “Porcupine Pat” McKinney, a Schuylkill County Conservation District educator and Historical Society board member, presents “How Schuylkill County and Pennsylvania Helped Build a Nation.”
- 3 p.m.: Anniversary cake cutting.
The open house is free and open to the public. Local businesses, civic organizations and individuals have contributed refreshments and door prizes.
Flu Shot Clinic
Ringtown Valley Senior Citizens will also hold a flu shot clinic , from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
