Donald S. Friday, Sr., 84, of Pottsville

Donald S. Friday, Sr.

Donald S. Friday, Sr., 84 of Pottsville passed away peacefully, October 22, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife and children, who cherished him beyond words. His passing has left his family shattered and heartbroken, with a void that can never be filled. While no amount of time together could ever have been enough, his family is forever grateful for every moment, every memory, and every bit of love they were blessed to share with him.

Above all else, Donald was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose love for his family was at the center of everything he did. As a father, he led by example, teaching his children the importance of waking up each day, working hard, doing things the right way, and showing up to do it all again the next day. He believed in providing for his family through dedication, determination, and an unwavering work ethic. These were not simply lessons he taught with words, but values he lived by every single day. His quick wit, sense of humor, and ability to bring a smile to those around him were just a few of the many qualities that made him so special.

A true master craftsman, Donald possessed remarkable knowledge and skill in plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and automotive care. There was seemingly nothing he couldn't fix, build, or figure out. He took immense pride in everything he did, never settling for anything less than 100 percent quality. Whether he was working on a project of his own or lending a helping hand to someone in need, he approached every task with the same care, precision, and determination.

Donald also dedicated much of his life to serving others. He spent decades involved in emergency medical services and volunteer fire service organizations, giving countless hours of his time as an EMT, instructor, and leader. His commitment to helping others reflected the kind of man he was: dependable, generous, selfless, and always willing to step forward when someone needed him. His years of service left a lasting impact on the people and communities he so faithfully served.

Donald also had a lifelong love of roller skating and especially enjoyed spending his Saturdays and Sundays working at the Roller Roost. It was a place where he could stay active, enjoy something he loved, and share his humor and personality with those around him.

Donald leaves behind his beloved wife, Martha, with whom he shared nearly 59 years of marriage; his son, Donald, and Amy, Annville PA; his daughter, Dawn, and Bryan, Harrisburg PA; and his cherished grandchildren, Donald, Colton, Nicholas, Corey, and Sydney, as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald L Friday and Dorothy R Friday, and a grandson, Jacob P Friday.

To his family, he was so much more than Donald. He was Dad. He was Pop. He was the man they could count on, the one who could fix just about anything, the one who taught them the meaning of hard work, and the one whose love and presence made their world feel complete.

His family will miss the sound of his voice, his quick-witted remarks, his laughter, his guidance, and the comfort of simply knowing he was there. They will miss the everyday moments that once seemed so ordinary but now mean more than words can express.

The love Donald had for his family was immeasurable, and the love they have for him will never fade. His absence will be felt in countless ways, every single day. Though their hearts are broken, his family will carry forward the lessons he taught, the memories they made, and the love he gave so freely.

Donald was one of a kind. He was deeply loved, will be tremendously missed, and is simply irreplaceable. Forever our Donald, our Dad, and our Pop.

The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions in memory of Don be made to Compassus Hospice, 500 Hawk Ridge Dr Ste 4, Hamburg, PA 19526 or the Wounded Warrior Project, 875 Greentree Road Seven Parkway Center, Suite 700, Pittsburgh, PA 15220.

Arrangements are under the care of James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, James B. Humphrey, F.D., Pottsville. Donald will be laid to rest at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at a date and time to be announced.
