SHENANDOAH — A Shenandoah man is jailed after Pennsylvania State Police alleged that he stabbed a juvenile during a fight at Shenandoah Valley High School Stadium on Thursday night.
State police at Frackville identified the accused as Jose L. Nunez Ovando, 42, of Shenandoah.
Fight Reported During High School Football Game
According to a state police, the Schuylkill County Communications Center received telephone calls about a fight at the stadium, located at 900 West Coal Street, at approximately .
Police said the fight occurred inside the stadium near the concession stand during the high school football game.
During the altercation, Nunez Ovando allegedly brandished a knife and stabbed a juvenile male in the abdomen, according to state police.
The juvenile was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital–East in Pottsville before being airlifted to Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest in Allentown.
State police did not provide an update on the juvenile’s condition.
Suspect Taken Into Custody; Bail Denied
State police said Nunez Ovando was taken into custody without incident at a residence in Frackville Borough.
He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker on aggravated assault and other related charges.
Bail was denied, and Nunez Ovando was committed to Schuylkill County Prison, according to the release.
All charges are allegations. Nunez Ovando is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
