Celebrate Schuylkill Presents 5th Annual Spirit of the Holidays Art Tour

Celebrate Schuylkill, a group of local art enthusiasts including The Arts Barn, The Walk In Art Center, The, Mud & Maker Pottery Studio, The Art and Craft Gallery of Hamburg, The Schuylkill Choral Society, Strawberry Playhouse and Gabriel Youth Orchestra recently announced the schedule for their fifth annual Arts Tour, Spirit of The Holidays. 

This year, the tour not only expands their calendar to offer more events than in past years, but also adds a new venue, The Art and Craft Gallery of Hamburg. 

Celebrate Schuylkill is sponsored in part by The Schuylkill County Visitor’s Bureau. The community is invited to attend open houses, art displays, holiday shopping, crafts, raffles, giveaways, concerts, presentations, caroling, kids activities, visits with Santa, Victorian teas, bake sales, theatre and more. 

Each location features something different during the month long tour with the common focus of celebrating and enjoying art in our community. 

According to Lisa Robinson, Executive Director of The Walk In Art Center, The Spirit of the Holidays is a wonderful way to celebrate art in our community. We encourage everyone to visit as many venues on the tour as you can and see how much the area has to offer.”

Argall named to Senate Leadership for 2017-18 session

Senator David G. Argall (R-Schuylkill/Berks) will continue to serve as Chairman of the Senate Majority Policy Committee for the 2017-18 legislative session. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced Wednesday that Brian Tate, age 34, of Gordon, Pennsylvania, was indicted on November 15, 2016, for attempting to entice a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity and transporting child pornography.

Michael C Ziegenfuss, age 38, of 2nd St., Coaldale, died Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at home after a brief illness.

Born in Coaldale on May 29, 1978, he was the son of Dorothy A. (Digilio) Ziegenfuss of Coaldale and the late Ray A. Ziegenfuss.

Michael was a Carbon County Vo-Tech graduate. He enjoyed playing basketball, bowling and swimming and was a member of the Panther Valley Shuffleboard League.

Brian A. Brossman, 39, of Bertsch Street, Lansford, PA died Saturday, November 12, 2016 at his residence. He was the son of Marlene (nee Lawrence) Paulus and Allen Leroy Brossman. Brian was an honorable and loyal son, father, brother and uncle. He graduated from Panther Valley High School in 1995 and attended LCCC. Brian was a 12 year veteran of the United States Air Force, retiring as a Technical Sergeant. Surviving in addition to his mother, Marlene and step father, Joseph Paulus of Coaldale, PA and his father, Allen Brossman and step mother, Mary of Hamburg, PA are daughter, Lillee J. Brossman of Exeter, PA; sisters, Melissa Edwards and her husband, Thomas of Coaldale and Regena Brossman and her significant other, Dustin Focht of Coaldale; step brother, Alan Moyer and his wife, Tina of Hamburg; nephews, Thomas Edwards, Jr and Gavin Brossman; and niece, Kenna Focht. Ronald J. Weiss, 51, Schuylkill Haven, died Sunday at Geisinger Regional Medical Center, Danville PA

Born in Pottsville, April 2, 1965, He was a son of the late Ronald and Vivian (Pepper) Weiss.

Ronald was catholic in faith and worked as a self-employed Automotive Mechanic .

Surviving are a companion, Virginia Bressler, Schuylkill Haven, 1 daughter Jessica Pauly and her husband Larry, Minersville, one son Tony Weiss, Blue Ball, 2 Grandchildren, 1 sister Vivian Connor, Schuylkill Haven, 1 brother David Weiss, Schuylkill Haven, and 1 Nephew.

Edna R. Reinsel, 99, of Oley and formerly of Shartlesville, passed away in the Reading Hospital on Sunday, November 13,, 2016.

Born in Tilden Twp. on December 27, 1916, Edna was the daughter of the late Edwin and Marietta (Shade) Reinsel. She worked as a waitress at the Shartlesville Hotel from 1963-1988. Edna was a member of Frieden's Church, Shartlesville. She enjoyed being with her family and would always call and sing Happy Birthday to them. Edna was a kind person and instilled in her family to be kind to others. She loved to dance and make people smile. Edna enjoyed flowers and ice cream was her favorite dessert. Her farewell to others when leaving was "Good Luck To You." 

Edna is survived by her three children: David E. Reinsel and his fiance Constance Edwards, Bernville; Rosie L. (Reinsel), wife of Terry Reimert, Oley; and Janie R. (Reinsel), wife of Ronald Procopio, Sinking Spring; four grandchildren: Troy Kratzer, and his wife Amy; Shawn Reimert, and his wife Marnita; Brandon Epting; and his wife Elizabeth; and Debra Hook; and five great-grandchildren: Candace and Paige Kratzer; Louden Reimert; and Everett and Escher Epting. She was predeceased by three brothers: Howard and George Kauffman, and Daniel Reinsel; as well as four infant siblings.

Services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Twp. Charles 'Chuck' Sincavage, 52, of Mahanoy City, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 12th.

Chuck was born in Shenandoah, on April 13, 1964, a son of Camille (Jones) Sincavage, of Mahanoy City and the late Charles Sincavage.

He was a 1982 graduate Shenandoah Valley High School, where he excelled as a pitcher on the baseball team.

He last worked for Big Lots Distribution Center in Tremont.

Chuck enjoyed all kinds of sports, including football, baseball and basketball. He had a great sense of humor who made everyone laugh.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a niece, Mary Schlauch.

A loving son, Chuck is survived by his mother Camille Sincavage of Mahanoy City, a sister Maria, wife of Denny Schlauch, Zion Grove; and nephews, Charles Schlauch and his wife Stacy and thier children; Eric Schlauch and his wife Tera; and Michael Schlauch.

A private funeral service for Chuck's family will be held at the Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home in Ringtown.
