Grant to Help Upgrade Fire Departments from Analog to Digital
Wednesday, U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded an Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) to the Citizens Fire Company #1 of Tamaqua. The funds will be distributed via the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Fatal Crash in Tremont Twp.
A crash has turned fatal in Tremont Twp.
Emergency personnel were called to the intersection of Tremont Road and Camp Road in Tremont Twp. around 12:30pm.
Initial calls came in as a motor vehicle accident with entrapment and fire.
We have now learned that one person has died in the crash.
Route 125 was closed for a period of time after the crash.

Pennsylvania State Police and PEMA Deployment to Maryland Will Be Begin Later This Week
The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) and the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) announced today that Maryland accepted its offer of resources to assist with the State of Emergency currently active in the City of Baltimore. Pennsylvania offered assistance in response to an Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) request that was put out by Maryland this week.
