The victim of the Minersville Fire two weeks ago has died from his injuries.

Around 12:45pm, Sunday, April 14th, 2024, emergency personnel were called to the 600 Block of North 2nd Street in Minersville for a structure fire.

Responding firefighters arrived to find heavy fire from 3 homes with multiple people trapped on roofs.

The fire damaged 6 homes and displaced over a dozen people.

One of the victims, who was rescued from the roof, Mario Ramirez, 77, sustained burns and was immediately transported to Lehigh Cedar Crest by Medivac Helicopter.

According to Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio, Ramirez passed away, on Sunday, April 28th, 2024, around 2:25pm.

Ramirez's cause of death was listed as complications from having 34.5% of his body surface area being burned from the house fire and his death was ruled accidental.

Minersville Police say the cause of the fire is still undetermined but no criminal activity is suspected.  The fire is believed to have started on a rear porch.
