Man Charged with Terroristic Threats

POTTSVILLE - On Sunday 10/2/16,  around 5:45PM, Pottsville Police received a report from Lehigh Valley Medical Center -South that a male patient had threatened to “blow up” the hospital. Through investigation, police learned that Mitch Russell Ritchie, 41 of Minersville, had become upset with staff at the facility and had become irate while threatening the hospital staff that he would “blow up” the hospital, resulting in several people being considerably alarmed and frightened.

Police located Ritchie walking in the 100 block of N. Centre Street and he was taken into custody while a criminal complaint was prepared charging him with Terroristic Threats. He was subsequently arraigned by on duty Magisterila District Judge Bayer who set bail at $10,000 cash and Ritchie was locked up in Schuylkill County Prison.

Wilkes Barre Man Charges with Assault

POTTSVILLE - On Tuesday, October 4, 2016 around 7:30AM, Pottsville Bureau of Police officers were dispatched to 805 Fairmont Ave. for a report of a male attempting to stab his brother
.
Upon arrival, Police made contact with a 35 year old Pottsville man who stated that Michael Keefe, 30 of Wilkes Barre had stabbed him in the hand with a knife.

The victim stated that the two were arguing when Keefe grabbed a knife and told him that he was “going to slice him.” Keefe then used the knife to stab the male victim in the left hand causing a small puncture wound. Keefe fled the scene prior to the victim calling 911 however officers conducted a search of the area and located Keefe a short time later.

He was taken into custody and arraigned on charges of terroristic threats and simple assault before Magisterial District Judge Reiley who set bail at $25,000.00-10%.

Keefe was unable to post bail and committed to the Schuylkill County Prison.
