UPDATE: Third Person Dies from Injuries Sustained in Shenandoah Shooting

The third person involved in a shooting in Shenandoah early Thursday morning has passed away.

The Montour County Coroner's Office has confirmed that 31-year-old Harley Reese, one of the victims in last week's triple shooting in Shenandoah, has died following injuries sustained in the incident.

According to the Coroner’s Office, Reese suffered a gunshot wound to the head during the early morning shooting on July 3, 2025. She was pronounced brain dead at 3:48 p.m. on July 4 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Forensic Pathology Associates in Lehigh Valley.

The investigation into the deadly shooting remains active and is being conducted jointly by the Montour County Coroner’s Office, Schuylkill County Coroner's Office, and the Pennsylvania State Police at Hazleton.

As of this posting, State Police have not released any additional details regarding the case.

Two people were killed and Reese were critically injured in the early hours of Thursday, July 3, following a shooting at a residence located at 307 West Centre Street in Shenandoah.

Authorities were first alerted when a woman contacted the Shenandoah Police Department around 1 a.m., saying she had received a chilling text message reading, “Everyone’s dead,” from someone inside the home.

Multiple local police departments—including Shenandoah, Frackville, Mahanoy Township, and West Mahanoy Township—responded to the scene. Upon arrival, officers forcibly entered the home and were met by a young juvenile who reportedly told them, “I need help. Daddy just shot mom and granddad.”

Inside, police found an older man deceased on the first floor couch. As officers cleared the second floor, they heard a single gunshot. A search revealed another deceased male near a bedroom and a woman suffering from critical gunshot wounds. She was airlifted to Geisinger Medical Center.

The two males were identified by the Schuylkill County Coroner's Office as Thomas Chernewski, 63, and Kevin Gordon, 40.  They were pronounced dead at the scene of the incident by Schuylkill County Deputy Coroner Andrew Szczyglak.

According to police, all three adult victims had sustained gunshot wounds.

The Pennsylvania State Police activated its Major Case Team shortly after 1:30 a.m. Forensic specialists, accident reconstruction experts, and the Schuylkill County Coroner’s Office assisted at the scene.
