SUV Crashes Into Butler Township Home

Route 61, in Butler Township, was closed this morning when an SUV crashed into the front of a home, owned by David Kulp.

At approximately 7:30am, the SUV was traveling North on 61 towards Frackville near the North Schuylkill High School, when the vehicle veered off the road and crashed some trees, a fence, and the front of Kulp's home.

Kulp was reportedly sitting in his living room when the crash occurred.

When rescue crews arrive, Kulp was trapped under a beam from the house and needed to be extracted.  The driver of the SUV was also trapped in his vehicle for a short time.

The foggy weather this morning prevented any helicopters from helping transport the victims.

Route 61 was closed for approximately an hour after the crash while crews cleaned up the scene.

The driver of the SUV was listed in critical condition.
